ANDERSON, S.C. -- A disabled Anderson County man is trying to hold on to his independence after the theft of his third scooter in two years.
Tim Brown's epilepsy causes him to have occasional seizures without warning.
Because of the condition, he is not allowed to drive a car. He uses the motorized scooter to get around.
But two weeks ago, thieves cut the lock and stole his scooter from outside his apartment – for the third time.
Now Brown has to walk everywhere he goes. He said it takes him an hour and a half to get to the grocery store.
"It just kind of knocked me down," Brown told WYFF News 4’s Mandy Gaither.
After the first theft, Brown brought his second scooter inside, but had to store it outside again after he was told it was a fire hazard.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the thefts.
