East Tennessee - including the cities of Knoxville, Chattanooga, Oak Ridge, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Maryville, Alcoa, Cleveland and the Tricities of Bristol, Kingsport & Johnson City.
Non-Vehicle rental charges are subject to only the 9.00% sales tax (State sales and local sales taxes)
Holiday Weekends – three (3) day minimum rental (may be waived if vans are available 7 days prior to holiday weekend)
Airport delays will be charged at a rate of $25.00/hour after the first hour, if our staff must wait for your flight to arrive.
Mileage: Rental rates include 125 miles a day cumulative (ie 5 day rental is allowed 625 miles) Over 125 miles a day, client will be charged $ 0.35 /mile ( 35 cents a mile)
Fuel Charges: Rates do not include fuel/gas. Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel. Vehicles are to be returned with a full tank of fuel. Vehicles returned with less than a full tank are subject to the actual cost to fill the tank, plus a $15.00 refueling charge.
Rental Requirements
Age: All clients and drivers must be at least 23 years of age to rent and/or operate any vehicle.
License: A valid/unexpired driver’s license must be provided for all drivers.
Insurance: All Clients/drivers are required to furnish their auto insurance card information and a phone number to verify coverage. The client’s coverage must include comprehensive and collision coverage for driving a rental vehicle, which includes a wheelchair accessible van. The client’s insurance serves as the primary insurance on the rental vehicle. Wheelchair Getaways of Tennessee‘s insurance is secondary to the renter’s/lessee’s insurance on the vehicle.
Rental Deposits & Payments
A one day rental charge is required to book a reservation. We accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express, certified checks, and cash for immediate payment. All business and personal checks must clear at least 10 days prior to delivery or pickup of a van. A valid credit card number must be provided, even if other payment methods are utilized to allow for billing of refueling, extra mileage, cleaning, or other rental items if warranted. Other types of payments or billing options must be made in advance, and approved for billing and payment. Direct billing to insurance companies requires written authorization, including insurance company contact information, claim number, rate approval, and billing contact/address information from the insurance company.
Cancellation Policy
Wheelchair Getaways of Tennessee will refund any deposits on reservations cancelled at least 7 days prior to the start date of a rental. Cancellations after that date will be billed an amount equal to a one day rental. If we attempt to deliver a vehicle, and we were not notified of a cancellation, then the delivery charge, plus a one day rental will be billed to your credit card.
Service or Family Animal Policy
If you travel with a service animal or family pet, please inform us at the time of your reservation. We welcome pets, however, a cleaning charge of $50.00 will be charged and an additional cleaning charge of $100.00 may be assessed if the vehicle is returned with excessive pet hair, odor, feces, or urine. Damage charges may be assessed if damage results from the animal. (ie chewing, punctures, bite marks, stains, etc. on the interior)
No Smoking in Vehicles Policy
We respect a person’s right to smoke, however, due to the health concerns, respiratory ailments, and the sensitivity of many of the clients and family members we serve, we ask that you not smoke in the vehicle. A cleaning charge of $150.00 will be assessed if you wish to do so.
Client Weight Policy
We respect and work to accommodate all of our clients. However, we do not have vehicles with lifts or ramps that will accommodate those clients who weigh in excess of 400 lbs. (600 lbs with client & equipment) Certain widths and heights of the doors and ramps may still prohibit the use of our vans. If you require a wide wheelchair, which has an overall wheel width of 30 inches or more, or require door heights greater that 50 inches, please talk with our staff.
