Our 7 Favorite Wheelchair Accessible Disneyland Rides

Wheelchair Accessible Disneyland Rides

Disneyland is very wheelchair friendly. There are two theme parks to visit, both of which are wheelchair accessible.  Are you looking for wheelchair accessible Disneyland rides? Keep reading for our seven favorite picks!

Wheelchair Accessible Rides at Disneyland

Some rides in Disneyland have ramps to allow people using wheelchairs to board and enjoy the massive attractions around the park. Others will require you to transfer.

Here are our top picks to check out when you visit:

Disneyland Railroad -Main Street, New Orleans Across Tomorrowland

The Disneyland Railroad is the first thing you see when you enter the park. It is an 18-minute round-trip of Disneyland with stations in Main Street, New Orleans Square, Mickey’s Toontown, and Tomorrowland. The three trains work simultaneously, so the downtime is relatively minimal. You can take the train to get to different lands or relax and ride around the park.

You also get to pass through Splash Mountain and some canyon dioramas. The dinosaur diorama can be loud, dark, and startling to some guests. Every point in the three stops is wheelchair accessible apart from Main Street, which does not have a ramp. If anything, this is one of the best wheelchair accessible rides in Disneyland if you want a view of the park.

Disneyland Monorail -Tomorrowland Across Downtown Disney

Disneyland Monorail is a great way to sneak into Tomorrowland when the park opens to get on Space Mountain. Enjoy the 13-minutes ride in a zero-emission and high-speed ride. It goes right through California Adventure Park to the end of Downtown Disney, making it easy to get to the Disneyland hotel and paradise pier.

You get wheelchair accessibility at both points of embarking and disembarking. In Tomorrowland, you will need to use more energy to power your wheelchair up the steep incline. The ramp is steep and long but shouldn’t stop you from enjoying this attraction.

Mark Twain Riverboat in Frontierland

Enjoy a break from the hustle and bustle of the crowds and cruise aboard the Mark Twain riverboat around America’s rivers. The ship is wheelchair accessible, and a cast member will help you embark first onboard the vessel before other guests when the boat is level with the dock.

It is a 13-minutes ride that’s quite enjoyable and calm for any age. The passage narrates all you see as you move along the river.

If you are in a wheelchair during disembarking, you will disembark last to allow the boat to rise again to meet the dock evenly.

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room in Adventureland

One of the exciting places you need to visit, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, is a musical-filled dark room with over 225 audio-animatronic birds. It’s very entertaining for adults and children alike.

The building is wheelchair accessible at several locations since there is an entry ramp to the left of the stairs and at the exit.

Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer’s Island in Frontierland

Pirates Lair on Tom Swayer’s Island is most suitable if you are looking for adventure. Both kids and adults can hop in though kids are more likely to enjoy it. You will embark on a log raft and travel across the Rivers of America, then take a stroll in the footsteps of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.

If in a wheelchair, you will be the first to embark on the raft and the last to exit. If you do not want to disembark, you can still take a round trip on the raft. While on the island, there are many EVC and wheelchair-accessible pathways. There are also wheelchair-accessible bathrooms. The island has inclines, bridges, dirt trails, and a few passages that may be inaccessible.

Wheelchair Accessible Disneyland Rides

Jungle Cruise in Adventureland

One of the best classic rides at Disneyland is the Jungle Cruise, and you can remain in your wheelchair while you ride. There is a power lift to get your wheelchair onto the boat.

Jungle Cruise is an exhilarating journey with a guided tour from a friendly Skipper.

You will most likely need the help of a cast member, so check in with one of them near the exit before you embark on the ride so that they can assist you in getting right on the ride.

Wheelchair Accessible Disneyland Rides

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in Critter Country

Winnie the Pooh is such a cute and fun ride! It takes you through the Hundred Acre Wood with Pooh and his friends as they navigate the challenges of a day when the east wind traded places with the west wind.

The ride is slightly bumpy, so you need to be careful, especially if you dislike shaking movements. Also, the Heffalumps scenes and the storm might frighten younger children.

To get to the ride, you have to use the standard queue like everyone else. Once inside, you can request an accessible ride vehicle from a Cast member.
